Overview

The Nuna Group of Companies is seeking a Heavy Equipment Trainer with experience in large earthworks construction and mining projects. This role involves training equipment operators in various settings, including remote locations across Canada. Nuna is recognized as a leading Inuit-owned heavy civil construction contractor, focusing on safety, integrity, teamwork, and respect for cultural diversity.

Key responsibilities

  • Train heavy equipment operators at multiple training locations and remote project sites
  • Utilize a variety of training methods including classroom instruction, field training, and simulators
  • Oversee and administer the site's Safety Program daily
  • Assess qualifications and on-the-job training of new personnel before equipment operation
  • Ensure training complies with health and safety protocols and regulations
  • Maintain training records
  • Liaise with inspectors, safety officers, and other stakeholders to develop training programs

Required skills

  • Minimum three years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Trainer
  • Minimum five years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator
  • Current Class 5 Driver's License
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent leadership, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills and hand-eye coordination
  • Experience with mining/construction projects in Northern Canada
  • Ability to manage data in Excel spreadsheets
