Job Description

Overview

The H&K Group is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join their team in Finksburg, Maryland. This role involves operating heavy equipment to meet daily production goals while ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Operate equipment by controlling levers and pedals
  • Clean equipment as scheduled
  • Ensure equipment is safely parked and stored
  • Maintain equipment by greasing and checking fluids daily
  • Perform daily checks to confirm proper operating condition
  • Notify shop foreman of maintenance or repair needs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school or six months of related experience
  • Ability to pass practical skills test for heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, and loaders
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the job
  • Experience in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries preferred
  • OSHA or other relevant safety certifications preferred
