Job Description

Overview

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic at The Kiely Family of Companies is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and inspecting a variety of vehicles and heavy construction equipment. The role requires expertise in both diesel and gas engines while performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting electrical issues.

Key responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and rebuild off-road heavy equipment and on-road vehicles
  • Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on all company vehicles and equipment
  • Conduct brake jobs, tune-ups, and oil changes
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and conduct repairs
  • Read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints
  • Operate equipment to verify repairs and adjustments
  • Order parts as needed and maintain records of repairs and maintenance
  • Clean and maintain work area and tools
  • Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, Associate's degree preferred
  • Minimum three years of mechanical experience
  • Minimum three years of experience as a heavy construction mechanic
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Working knowledge of complex machinery and engine components
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with diagnostic maintenance software
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
