Job Description

Overview

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic at E-Z Bel Construction is responsible for performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and diagnostics on a variety of fleet trucks, trailers, and construction equipment. This role involves using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic software to troubleshoot and service various mechanical systems while adhering to safety protocols.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform repairs on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment including brakes, hydraulic hoses, clutches, and AC systems.
  • Complete preventive maintenance and inspections, documenting results in work orders.
  • Use diagnostic tools for troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and diesel engine systems.
  • Service and repair loaders, skid steers, excavators, manlifts, and fleet trucks.
  • Follow safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout and OSHA regulations.
  • Respond to field service calls and coordinate repairs with Foremen and Operators.
  • Maintain and organize shop tools, spare parts, and equipment.
  • Record repair data and communicate with vendors for parts management.

Required skills

  • 3-7 years of experience in heavy equipment and fleet repair or equivalent technical training.
  • Proficiency with hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and diesel engine systems.
  • Skilled in using diagnostic equipment including OEM software and multimeters.
  • Ability to read and interpret repair manuals and technical diagrams.
  • Welding and fabrication skills preferred.
  • Strong commitment to safety protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
