Job Description

Overview

The Heavy Equipment Hauler at Ondrick Materials & Recycling, LLC is responsible for the safe and timely transport of heavy construction equipment to and from job sites and company locations. This role requires compliance with all regulations, particularly DOT standards, while ensuring securement and proper handling of equipment.

Key responsibilities

  • Safely operate trucks and trailers for transporting heavy equipment
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment
  • Load, secure, and unload heavy equipment in compliance with DOT requirements
  • Plan and execute transport routes considering road restrictions
  • Maintain accurate transportation logs and inspection documents
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and site managers
  • Ensure all accessory equipment is properly secured for transit
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance and keep the cab and trailer clean
  • Wear appropriate PPE at all times
  • Work overtime, nights, and weekends as needed

Required skills

  • Minimum 5 years' experience hauling heavy equipment
  • Expertise in loading, securing, and unloading heavy equipment
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and cargo securement standards
  • Ability to use appropriate tie-downs and edge protection
  • Experience with route planning for oversized/overweight loads
  • Strong communication skills
  • Reliable work ethic and attention to detail
  • Valid CDL driver's license with hazmat endorsements
  • Valid DOT medical card
  • Hoisting license and OSHA 10 certification
