Job Description

Overview

The Heavy Equipment and Forklift Mechanic at Medley Material Handling Company is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and inspecting a variety of heavy machinery, including agricultural and construction equipment. This role ensures that all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy machinery, forklifts, and farm equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related issues using diagnostic tools.
  • Repair and replace engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, brakes, steering components, and electrical systems.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and identify safety concerns.
  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel and gasoline-powered equipment.
  • Complete work orders, maintenance records, and inspection reports accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and service vehicle.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Communicate equipment status and repair recommendations to supervisors and customers.
  • Assist with field service calls as needed.

Required skills

  • Technical school training in diesel technology or heavy equipment repair preferred.
  • Valid driver license with a good driving record.
  • Forklift operator's license/certification.
  • In-depth mechanical knowledge of material handling products.
  • Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Troubleshooting and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment and related power equipment.
  • Strong time management and active listening skills.
