Job Description

Overview

Jim Boyd Construction is seeking a Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic to join their team in Albany, Georgia. This full-time role involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, and performing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs on company equipment and trucks both in the shop and in the field.

Key responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and locate mechanical deficiencies on heavy equipment and trucks
  • Source and order parts as needed
  • Determine extent of necessary repairs and perform all work
  • Proper use of diagnostic equipment
  • Complete all work orders and time sheets accurately and timely
  • Perform work according to established quality standards and safety procedures
  • Maintain service vehicle inspection records and logs
  • Keep truck and equipment clean
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager

Required skills

  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of complex hydraulics, electrical, computer and mechanical systems
  • Experience with diagnostic equipment used to repair vehicles
  • Ability to safely operate a variety of equipment
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Basic computer skills (Windows based programs and email)
  • Acceptable driving record
