Job Description

Overview

Amherst College is seeking a Head Coach of Women's Tennis for a full-time, year-round position, responsible for managing the NCAA Division III women's tennis program. The role involves coaching, recruiting, and fostering relationships with student-athletes while promoting a diverse and inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Teach, analyze performance, and coach tennis techniques for competitions
  • Establish strong communication and relationships with student-athletes
  • Monitor academic progress and provide support to student-athletes
  • Develop a respectful and inclusive environment within the team
  • Schedule and conduct regular practice sessions
  • Maintain detailed statistics and reports for each athlete
  • Create and implement a competitive event schedule
  • Develop an inclusive recruiting plan and scout prospective athletes
  • Coordinate on-campus visits for potential recruits
  • Manage program budget, travel, and logistics

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience playing or coaching tennis at the college level
  • Strong recruiting skills
  • Outstanding organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to supporting diverse student-athlete development
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and other non-traditional schedules
  • Valid driver's license and successful completion of driver credentialing program
