Overview

The Head Chef at Target Hospitality in West, Texas, is responsible for the preparation and timely service of meals, as well as overseeing kitchen staff. This role involves ensuring food safety, coordinating meal production according to approved standards, and maintaining inventory and stock levels.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain a safety culture by following all SOPs, JSA's, policies, and procedures
  • Coordinate and supervise kitchen staff in meal preparation and service
  • Prepare meals according to menu plans and specifications
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP and food safety standards
  • Update menu boards every meal period
  • Operate various kitchen equipment including grills and mixers
  • Provide culinary guidance and leadership to team members
  • Meet daily with Chef to discuss menu preparation and production strategy
  • Manage inventory and recommend ordering as needed
  • Define work schedules and responsibilities for direct reports
  • Conduct daily safety meetings with staff
  • Exceed guest expectations by providing excellent customer service

Required skills

  • 3+ years of culinary experience, preferably in remote camp or hotel/hospitality settings
  • Valid food safe certification
  • First aid certification
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills
  • Ability to read and write in English
