Job Description

Overview

BB&E is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Hazardous Waste Lead for NASA Johnson Space Center located in Houston, TX. The role involves managing hazardous waste operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing training and documentation support for waste management processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain all waste management and disposal records
  • Manage user accounts in NASA Account Management System (IDMAX NAMS)
  • Use Waste Disposal Tracking System (WDTS) to update environmental databases
  • Train users on database systems and waste disposal procedures
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures for hazardous waste programs
  • Execute waste characterizations and handle waste sampling requests
  • Maintain records of issued waste containers and verify contents
  • Prepare and submit hazardous waste biennial reports and other documentation
  • Conduct inspections of hazardous waste sites to verify compliance
  • Provide training in environmental compliance and waste management
  • Prepare hazardous waste manifests and arrange for waste pickup

Required skills

  • Experience in RCRA hazardous waste management
  • Knowledge of hazardous material identification and management
  • Familiarity with hazardous waste regulations and procedures
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills in waste management processes
  • Ability to safely handle and package hazardous materials
  • Experience with hazardous waste lab pack disposal
  • 40 hours of OSHA HAZWOPER training
