Job Description

Overview

The Group Leader for the School Age program at Metropolitan Ministries plays a crucial role in providing a safe and engaging environment for children. This position involves planning activities, supervising children and volunteers, and performing administrative tasks to support the program's operations, all while aligning with the mission to assist those in need in the community.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate daily activities for the CREATE program.
  • Assist the site manager with administrative tasks such as school readiness processing and ordering supplies.
  • Incorporate recreational activities to enhance children's social, emotional, educational, and leisure skills.
  • Supervise children and manage group activities.
  • Organize and supervise volunteers.
  • Maintain daily administrative records and communication with supervisors.
  • Ensure a safe, healthy, and clean environment.
  • Attend staff meetings and ongoing training sessions.

Required skills

  • High school degree or GED
  • Experience working with children
  • Knowledge of school-age children's programming
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse families
  • Ability to plan and conduct educational programs
  • Proficient use of computers and related software
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Sensitivity to issues of faith and culture
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus
