Job Description

Overview

As a Group Leader for the School Age program at Metropolitan Ministries, you will be responsible for providing a safe and engaging environment for children while offering administrative support to the site manager. This role is pivotal in implementing developmentally appropriate activities and supervising both children and volunteers to foster a positive learning experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and implement daily activities for the CREATE program
  • Assist the site manager with administrative tasks including school readiness processing and ordering supplies
  • Incorporate recreational activities to enhance children's experiences
  • Serve as a role model for children, volunteers, and parents
  • Supervise children and organize volunteers
  • Maintain necessary administrative records such as attendance, lesson plans, and incident reports
  • Communicate any children's issues with the supervisor
  • Demonstrate flexibility in work schedule as needed
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Attend required staff meetings and ongoing trainings
  • Complete other assigned duties

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience working with children
  • Understanding of poverty and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations
  • Planning and organizing educational programs
  • Computer proficiency
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Bilingual (Spanish - English) is a plus
