Job Description

Overview

Rocket Lab is seeking a Ground Systems Engineer II/Senior - Fluids to be the subject matter expert responsible for the design, build, and activation of critical systems supporting the Neutron Launch Vehicle. This hands-on role will involve working on systems that operate in harsh environments and require close collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Design fluid systems including cryogenics, hydraulics, fuels, high pressure gases, and HVAC
  • Utilize CAD software (specifically NX) for 2D and 3D modeling
  • Perform system sizing and analysis using hand calculations and numerical methods
  • Generate and maintain schematics of fluid/process systems, such as P&IDs and connection diagrams
  • Select and develop components, and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Interact with suppliers and internal teams
  • Support certification of launch pad fluid systems
  • Assist in the development of maintenance programs

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and design calculation skills
  • 2+ years of experience in aerospace or industrial sectors for Level II Engineer; 5+ years for Senior Engineer
  • Knowledge of fluid systems, sizing calculations, and P&IDs
  • Proficiency in CAD software (NX, Solidworks)
