In addition, Palmetto Bluff has an extensive nature preserve, walking trails, retail shopping, art gallery, and a vibrant village, all which pay homage to the region's rich heritage.Job Summary:The Assistant Golf Course Mechanic, under the supervision of the Head Mechanic and direction of the Golf Course Superintendent, performs and maintains all aspects of vehicle, equipment and cutting reel maintenance. Essential Job Functions:Job duties include, although are not limited to:Lubricate equipment in accordance to manufacturer guidelinesPerform preventative maintenanceCheck and change oil, fluids and filtersReplace hoses, belts, water pumps, batteries, etc.Adjust brakes, tire pressure and gas gaugesInspect radiators, water levels and antifreezeRepair or change flat tiresAssist in scheduling equipment servicingAssist Head Mechanic in moderate to complex overhaul of: engines, transmissions, drive units, brakes, suspension systems, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, alternators, electrical systems, instrumentations, etc.Maintain records of work performed and schedules for future PM'sClean and maintain in and around shop facilities, equipment, tools, and parts roomUse a variety of testing equipment such as amp meters, voltmeters, gauges, and diagnostic equipment to streamline repairsTest drive equipmentSet up and maintain all mowing equipment:Check height of cutConditions reels and bedknivesInspect rollers, bearings, cables, clutches, belts, and headlightsUse grinding equipmentMaintain all facilities located within GCMAssist in maintenance of all club equipmentCommunicate needs and conditions of equipmentMonitor organization of GCM facilitiesMonitor equipment during useMonitor inventoryAssist in managing budget and ordering suppliesAbility to order parts and communicate needs during head mechanics absencePerform any other task as required by Head Mechanic or Golf Course Superintendent for GCM and the Palmetto Bluff ClubQualifications:Strong interpersonal skills; team orientatedDesire to serve and create lifelong memoriesPrevious experience in GCM desiredPrevious experience in the repair and maintenance of a variety of automotive or mechanical equipmentAbility to research and interpret documents such as safety procedures, service and parts manuals, operating and maintenance instructionsAbility to communicate with co-workers, factory service technicians, parts dealers, and membersPersonal set of tools is desired Love for the game of golf preferredAbility to comprehend instructions given in English or SpanishAbility to work 5 days a week, weekends and holidaysAbility to perform a variety of task with frequent interruptionPerform job responsibilities and operate equipment according to the company safety and training programsWorking knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the professionPhysical Requirements:Majority of tasks are performed outdoors in variable weather conditions, including hot, cold, windy and rainy. Temperatures can be extreme but are usually moderate. Frequently works near moving/mechanical parts. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to reach with arms and hands, bend and stoop, remain at post standing for periods of time, walk for a long distance, and is required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
