Job Description

Overview

The General Manager will oversee the overall operations of the Solano Transit in Vallejo, California, ensuring safe and reliable service while managing employee oversight, client satisfaction, and financial performance. This leadership role requires strategic direction, relationship building, and operational efficiency to achieve company goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Build relationships with employees, clients, union partners, and the community.
  • Set commercial and operational strategic direction for the business unit.
  • Lead the management team to achieve safety goals, service performance, and financial objectives.
  • Identify and develop business growth opportunities.
  • Optimize asset management including vehicle scheduling and performance.
  • Analyze KPIs to maintain positive operational results.
  • Ensure services remain within budget and implement plans for operational efficiency.
  • Deliver business unit budget and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Oversee staff management and assign training.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience managing a fixed route or paratransit bus operation
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws
  • Thorough understanding of transit system regulations and operations
  • Strong financial management and cost control abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of transportation technology and apps
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to navigate labor relations and work with union partners
