Overview

The General Accountant position at Paducah & Louisville Railway, Inc. in Paducah, KY is focused on processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and maintaining financial data to ensure timely and accurate payments. The role requires adherence to various regulations and internal policies while maintaining confidentiality and employee privacy.

Key responsibilities

  • Process payments and control expenses by verifying and reconciling invoices
  • Correspond with customers in a professional manner
  • Input, track, and retrieve financial data
  • Prepare bi-weekly check runs and initiate payments via ACH and check
  • Assist in monthly closing processes, including account reconciliations and journal entries
  • Ensure invoices are supported by appropriate documentation before payment
  • Maintain records by scanning and filing documents
  • Provide timely and accurate responses to inquiries regarding AP policies and procedures
  • Identify discrepancies and resolve issues
  • Maintain supporting data for 1099 reporting and compliance
