Overview

The Gear Manufacturing Production Planner at Precision Gears, Inc. is responsible for creating and managing manufacturing schedules to optimize operational efficiency. This role requires close coordination with production teams to ensure timely delivery and effective inventory management amid potential disruptions.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain daily/weekly production schedules for various gear manufacturing operations
  • Maximize machine and labor efficiency by balancing workloads and managing backlogs
  • Ensure availability of raw materials and tooling before production begins
  • Monitor high-profile jobs and adjust schedules for unexpected customer demands
  • Maintain inventory levels and data integrity within the MRP/ERP system
  • Liaise with production, sales, procurement, and quality control, providing daily progress reports

Required skills

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, particularly in CNC machining or gear cutting
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with shop floor personnel and management
  • Problem-solving skills to adjust schedules based on equipment failures or raw material shortages
  • High school diploma; bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, or industrial engineering preferred
