Overview

The Gear Manufacturing Production Planner at Precision Gears, Inc. is responsible for creating and managing daily and weekly production schedules to ensure efficient machine capacity and on-time delivery. This role involves close coordination with production teams and monitoring inventory levels to meet customer demands while addressing any disruptions in the shop floor operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update daily/weekly production schedules for gear manufacturing operations
  • Maximize machine and labor efficiency by balancing workloads and managing backlogs
  • Ensure raw materials and tooling availability prior to production
  • Monitor high-profile jobs and adjust schedules based on demand or customer changes
  • Maintain inventory levels and data integrity within the MRP/ERP system
  • Act as a liaison between production, sales, procurement, and quality control

Required skills

  • Experience in manufacturing, particularly in CNC machining or gear cutting
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving abilities to adapt schedules due to disruptions
  • High school diploma; bachelor's degree in relevant fields preferred
