Overview

WhiteCoat Locums is seeking a Gastroenterology Physician for locums coverage in Lufkin, Texas. This role involves providing inpatient care with a focus on standard GI procedures and managing a patient load of up to 10 patients per day.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient gastroenterology care
  • Perform standard GI procedures including endoscopies and colonoscopies
  • Manage clinical cases involving GI bleeds, abdominal pain, and initial carcinoma diagnosis
  • Rounding on patients as assigned
  • Work 24-hour call shifts with hospitalist support for admissions
  • Coordinate with nursing staff and anesthesia for procedures

Required skills

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
  • Completion of Gastroenterology Residency/Fellowship
  • Active Texas State License
  • ACLS Certification
  • Proficiency in ERCP
  • Experience with EMR systems, specifically Paragon and EPIC
