Job Description

Overview

University Hospitals is seeking a full-time Gastroenterology Physician to join their Department of Medicine and Division of Gastroenterology. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive patient care and participate in the training of medical students and residents in a prestigious academic medical center setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations and treatment plans.
  • Prescribes medications and treatment regimens based on medical evaluations.
  • Refers patients to specialists as necessary.
  • Trains and supervises medical students and residents.
  • May oversee daily operations of a medical program or care unit.
  • Directs patient care activities with nursing and support staff.
  • Participates in health promotion and education programs.
  • Maintains productivity thresholds and adheres to established policies and standards.

Required skills

  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy with an unrestricted license
  • Fellowship training in relevant specialties
  • Knowledge of medical care standards and ethical practices
  • Ability to supervise and train clinical professionals
  • Knowledge of relevant pharmaceuticals and patient care aids
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Experience with EPIC preferred
