Job Description

Overview

The Garden of Eatin' Manager (GOEM) at North Bay Children's Center is a leadership role that combines horticultural expertise with team and program management. The GOEM oversees the Garden of Eatin' program, managing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality nutrition and nature education across multiple garden sites in Marin and Sonoma Counties.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and support a team of four Gardeners and Program Trainers
  • Oversee care and management of seasonal garden sites
  • Provide hands-on support for garden skills training
  • Implement the GOE Living Curriculum across all NBCC sites
  • Manage the GOE program budget and track expenditures
  • Facilitate team meetings and maintain effective communication
  • Conduct training and professional development for staff
  • Recognize and honor each child's cultural identity during interactions

Required skills

  • 3-5 years of hands-on gardening or landscaping experience
  • 1-3 years of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of edible gardening, soil health, and pest management
  • Familiarity with irrigation systems
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Suite
  • Ability to manage a dispersed team
  • Cultural humility and respect towards diverse populations
