Job Description

Overview

As an FPGA Design Research Engineer at GE Vernova, you will lead the architecture and development of advanced embedded systems for real-time control and industrial communication applications. You will collaborate with U.S. Government Agencies and other partners to transition innovative technologies into business products, contributing to a sustainable energy future.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop FPGA solutions for embedded systems and industrial control systems (ICS)
  • Leverage FPGA design tools for simulation, testing, and optimization
  • Shape and pursue external opportunities with U.S. government agencies
  • Collaborate with GE businesses to transition prototypes to fieldable systems
  • Publish technical papers, file patents, and contribute to open-source communities

Required skills

  • Ph.D. or Master's/Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
  • 2-5 years of FPGA and SoC design experience using Verilog, SystemVerilog, and VHDL
  • Experience with Xilinx and/or Intel FPGA devices and tools
  • Strong understanding of digital logic design, RTL simulation, and synthesis
  • Familiarity with high-speed interfaces like UART, SPI, Ethernet, and PCIe
  • Proficiency in on-chip debugging tools and version control systems
  • Experience with high-level synthesis tools and integration with MATLAB/Simulink
  • Embedded programming skills in C/C++, Python, and experience with Linux systems
