Job Description

Overview

As a Lead Research Engineer in FPGA Design at GE Vernova, you will be responsible for architecting and developing advanced embedded systems for real-time controls and industrial communication. You will lead R&D projects aligned with the company's energy solutions, working closely with government agencies and partners to transition innovative technologies into market-ready products.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop FPGA solutions for embedded systems and industrial control systems.
  • Leverage FPGA design tools for simulation, testing, and optimization.
  • Collaborate with U.S. government agencies to pursue external opportunities.
  • Transition embedded controls and communication systems to fieldable prototypes.
  • Publish technical papers and contribute to open-source communities.

Required skills

  • Ph.D. or Master's/Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with relevant experien
  • 2-5 years of FPGA and SoC design experience using Verilog, SystemVerilog, and VHDL
  • Hands-on experience with Xilinx and/or Intel FPGA devices and tools
  • Solid understanding of digital logic design and experience with RTL simulation
  • Knowledge of high-speed interfaces such as UART, SPI, and PCIe
  • Experience with version control systems like Git
  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems and embedded programming skills
