Overview

FM Approvals, a leader in third-party testing and certification services, is seeking a Business Development Advanced Engineer to support growth in the Hazardous Location and Industrial Internet of Things (IioT) markets. This role will focus on driving new opportunities, enhancing customer relationships, and supporting certification initiatives across the Americas.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify opportunities in targeted industries.
  • Develop and execute annual business plans.
  • Build and maintain relationships with team members and customers.
  • Travel to customers, events, and trade shows (typically 25% or more).
  • Support the development of technical knowledge and market trends communication.
  • Maintain understanding of targeted industries, including regulations and competitors.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business/marketing with relevant experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in product certification, industrial automation, or IioT.
  • Knowledge of Hazardous Location standards (FM, ATEX, IECEx, NEC/CEC, UL, CSA).
  • Experience with IioT technologies (industrial sensors, connected devices, communication protocols).
  • Business development, technical sales, or marketing experience in industrial sectors.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication, customer service, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
