Overview

Performance Electrical Contracting is seeking a Fire System Technician in Jacksonville, Florida, who is experienced in fire alarm systems installation, inspection, and maintenance. This role is critical in ensuring safety for people and buildings by executing tasks that involve installation, troubleshooting, and compliance with safety codes.

Key responsibilities

  • Install, program, test, and fix fire alarm systems, panels, and devices
  • Conduct regular system checks to ensure functionality
  • Diagnose and repair issues with malfunctioning systems
  • Document findings, repairs, and maintenance schedules
  • Read building plans, wiring diagrams, and specification sheets
  • Collaborate with project managers, inspectors, and customers
  • Adhere to local, state, and national fire and electrical codes
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and work vehicle
  • Provide customer assistance and education on system operation
  • Follow safety rules and OSHA requirements

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience with fire alarm systems
  • Knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 70, and local fire codes
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical drawings
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • NICET Fire Alarm certification (preferred)
  • State or local fire alarm license (preferred)
  • Experience with brands like Honeywell, Siemens, Notifier, Simplex, or Edwards
  • Low-voltage electrical experience
  • Good communication skills
