Overview

4LEAF, Inc is seeking an experienced Fire Director to manage the Fire Prevention Division remotely in California. The role involves overseeing fire inspection services, code enforcement, plan review, permit processing, and public fire safety programs while providing leadership and oversight to fire prevention personnel.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise fire prevention personnel.
  • Establish division goals, objectives, policies, and performance standards.
  • Conduct employee evaluations, coaching, and professional development activities.
  • Prepare and administer division budgets and resource allocations.
  • Oversee fire and life safety inspections of various occupancy types.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable fire codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Manage the review of construction plans and fire protection systems.
  • Interpret and enforce applicable editions of fire codes and local ordinances.
  • Direct public fire safety education programs and community risk reduction strategies.
  • Collaborate with building officials, planning departments, and law enforcement.
  • Represent the Fire Department in hearings, appeals, and legal proceedings.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Fire Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Seven to ten years of experience in fire prevention and inspections.
  • Five to eight years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Knowledge of fire prevention principles and practices.
  • Experience in building and fire protection system plan review.
  • Familiarity with public administration, budgeting, and personnel management.
  • Certifications such as Fire Inspector II, Fire Plans Examiner, Fire Officer, and Fire Marshal certification.
