Job Description

Overview

4LEAF, Inc is seeking an experienced Fire Director to oversee the Fire Prevention Division, managing fire inspection services, fire code enforcement, building and fire protection system plan review, permit processing, and public fire safety programs. This role requires strong leadership, management skills, and the ability to maintain compliance with fire codes and regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise fire prevention personnel including fire inspectors and fire plans examiners.
  • Establish division goals, objectives, policies, and performance standards.
  • Conduct employee evaluations and professional development activities.
  • Prepare and administer division budgets and resource allocations.
  • Oversee fire and life safety inspections for various occupancies.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable fire codes and regulations.
  • Manage the review of construction plans and fire protection systems.
  • Interpret and enforce fire code regulations and issue notices of violation.
  • Direct public fire safety education programs and community outreach.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders in fire prevention matters.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Fire Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in fire prevention, inspections, and plan review.
  • 5-8 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Fire Inspector II certification or equivalent.
  • Fire Plans Examiner certification.
  • Fire Officer certification.
  • Fire Marshal certification (preferred).
  • ICC Fire Code Official certification (preferred).
  • Knowledge of International Fire Code (IFC) and local ordinances.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
