The City of Leawood is seeking a principled and visionary Fire Chief to lead its Fire Department. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of operational expertise, strategic leadership, and a commitment to community service, aiming to enhance service delivery while fostering a culture of accountability and trust within the department.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Fire Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field
  • Ten years of progressively responsible experience in a career fire service organization
  • Five years in a supervisory or command-level leadership role
  • Chief Fire Officer (CFO) designation
  • Valid driver's license
  • Master's degree in relevant fields preferred
  • Completion of National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program preferred
  • Designation as a Kansas Certified Emergency Manager preferred
  • Experience in strategic initiatives, succession planning, and community risk reduction
