Job Description

Overview

The Financial Services Advocate (FSA) at U.S. Renal Care focuses on supporting patients with insurance retention by providing education about various health insurance options, including Medicare and Medicaid. This remote position requires weekly travel to clinics in Pennsylvania and the NYC metro area, where the FSA collaborates with Social Workers and other center staff to help patients navigate their benefits and minimize coverage lapses.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver proactive patient education to reduce lapses in insurance coverage.
  • Complete initial pre-assessment screenings for new patients.
  • Document patient interactions in tracking systems and complete assigned tasks timely.
  • Support patients during life events affecting their coverage choices.
  • Assist underfunded and unfunded patients with enrollment and education.
  • Submit insurance verification requests and assist with reinstatements.
  • Provide education on Medicaid and Medicare applications and renewals.
  • Engage in open enrollment initiatives and educate patients and clinics.
  • Establish relationships with local brokers and insurance agents.
  • Participate in facility Operation meetings to address insurance risks.

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in a healthcare setting
  • Customer service experience
  • Bilingual skills (a plus)
  • Understanding of ESRD billing and COB rules
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, TEAMS
