Job Description

Overview

The Finance Director at the City of Lake Forest Park is responsible for leading and managing the Finance & IT department, ensuring sound financial management including budgeting, financial planning, and compliance with regulations. The role entails collaborating with city leadership on strategic initiatives and oversight of all financial operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead overall management of the Finance & IT department
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, debt management, and cash management
  • Serve as Chief Financial Officer and principal financial advisor
  • Develop financial plans and policies to achieve City goals
  • Analyze financial information and recommend resource requirements
  • Monitor Finance Department operations and ensure compliance
  • Coordinate development of the City budget and Capital Improvement Program
  • Supervise assigned Finance and IT staff

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • At least eight years of senior management experience
  • Three years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of financial management and accounting principles
  • Proficient in accounting and payroll software (Springbrook, PACE, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Effective team building and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and financial standards
