Job Description

Overview

The Finance Director for the City of Lake Forest Park is responsible for leading the Finance & IT department, managing key functions including budgeting, financial planning, debt management, and more. The role requires collaboration with various city officials to ensure compliance with regulations and effective financial strategy implementation.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting, payroll, cash management, and financial reporting activities.
  • Serve as Chief Financial Officer and financial advisor to the Mayor, City Council, and City Administrator.
  • Develop and implement financial plans and policies in alignment with City goals.
  • Analyze financial information and prepare forecasts and reports for the City Council.
  • Coordinate the development of the City budget and Capital Improvement Program.
  • Direct and coordinate the IT services of the City.
  • Supervise and mentor Finance and IT staff.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • Eight years of senior management experience with three years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of financial management principles and practices
  • Proficient in accounting and payroll programs (e.g., Springbrook, PACE)
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities
  • Understanding of municipal financial regulations and reporting standards
