Job Description

Overview

Northwest Traffic Control Services is looking for reliable and safety-focused Flaggers/Traffic Control Technicians to maintain safe traffic flow at construction sites across Pennsylvania. This role entails protecting construction crews and the public while ensuring compliance with MUTCD standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Control movement of vehicular traffic using signs, hand signals, and flagging devices
  • Set up and distribute traffic control signs and markers in designated areas
  • Direct drivers through detours and construction zones
  • Warn construction crews of potential traffic hazards
  • Communicate with crews and supervisors to maintain a safe work zone
  • Monitor traffic flow and stay alert to changing jobsite conditions
  • Load, unload, and carry traffic control equipment as needed
  • Drive company vehicles as necessary
  • Follow company safety procedures, jobsite rules, and MUTCD traffic control standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required skills

  • Valid PA driver's license
  • Reliable personal vehicle
  • Ability to pass a drug test
  • Comfortable standing 8-12 hours in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Dependable and alert in active roadway environments
  • English communication skills for safety instructions
  • Prior traffic control or flagging experience preferred
  • Construction, roadway, utility, or outdoor labor experience preferred
  • Traffic control certification preferred

What the company offers

  • Starting rate: $19.50 per hour for the first 90 days
  • Rate increases to $21.25 per hour after 90 days
  • Additional wage increases may be available based on experience, performance, and qualifications, up to $22.75 per hour
