Job Description

Overview

The Fiber Optic Technician/Structured Cabling Technician at 3LINKS Technologies Inc. will be responsible for providing Layer 1 infrastructure support, including installation and troubleshooting of fiber and copper networks at the PNS shipyard. The role involves working with various cable types, adhering to BICSI standards, and collaborating with team members to enhance network operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Install and terminate various cable types according to BICSI standards.
  • Analyze network issues and create tickets for resolution.
  • Document cable implementations and conduct site surveys.
  • Support ongoing submarine/barge moves with cabling installation and removal.
  • Install and mount network appliances and wireless access points.
  • Provide feedback on processes and recommend improvements.

Required skills

  • Proficiency in fiber optic installation and termination
  • BICSI standards knowledge
  • Experience with OTDR and optical loss testing
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Visio for network drawings
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds
  • Knowledge of TIA standards for telecommunications cabling
