Job Description

Overview

As a Fiber Construction Technician at TDS Telecom in Delavan, WI, you will play a vital role in the construction and installation of fiber optic networks. This hands-on position involves general labor in varying weather conditions and requires adherence to safety protocols while working on both aerial and buried installations.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform general construction labor in various weather conditions
  • Transport required construction equipment to and from the worksite
  • Assist with and perform the placement of new aerial and buried fiber
  • Use hand tools, cable locators, and test equipment
  • Install and/or set enclosures, vaults, pedestals, and handholes
  • Climb poles, ladders, towers, and other structures as needed
  • Mark/label fiber optic and copper facilities
  • Assist with fiber splicing and repairs
  • Complete all related paperwork in a timely manner
  • Provide assistance to field services technicians as needed

Required skills

  • 6+ months experience in customer service, electrical or utility construction, or technical certification
  • Ability to obtain a Class A CDL
  • Experience with directional drilling preferred
  • Basic understanding of telecommunication products and services
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Ability to operate vehicles with manual transmissions
