Overview

The Experienced Surgical Tech - CVOR role at OhioHealth involves preparing for surgical procedures, assisting surgeons, and maintaining a sterile environment. The position requires candidates to have a background in surgical technology, with a strong emphasis on patient care and safety.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare surgical cases by obtaining and organizing necessary supplies and instruments.
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field during operations.
  • Assist the surgeon as a second assistant during procedures.
  • Ensure post-operative decontamination of the surgical room and instruments.
  • Assist with patient positioning and monitoring during surgery.
  • Participate in unit operations and training of new personnel.
  • Perform room turnover and set-up for subsequent surgical cases.

Required skills

  • Completion of OhioHealth OR ST Fellowship or equivalent education.
  • Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist school or equivalent military training.
  • 10+ years' experience as a Surgical Technician (preferred).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to anticipate surgeon's needs and communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical procedures.
