Find your future with us.Boeing Commercial Airplanes Materials & Processes (BCA M&P) is seeking an Experienced or Senior Composites Engineer (Level 3 or 4) to join our 787 Wing & Empennage Engineering Support Team in North Charleston, South Carolina.At Boeing South Carolina, we are shaping the future of aerospace. This is your opportunity to be part of a high-impact Engineering Support team that enables our 787 Airplane Program.As an M&P engineer, you will define engineering requirements to develop, select, or recommend parts, materials, processes, manufacturing technologies, machinery, tools, and automation systems used in product design and manufacturing in accordance with contractual and regulatory obligations. Additionally, you will qualify new materials, parts and processes to meet requirements and manage test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. You will conduct analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of tools, materials, parts or processes to drive subsequent corrective or preventative actions. M&P engineers are responsible for using project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements while incorporating environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.Position Responsibilities:Perform engineering design reviewMaterial and part qualification internal to Boeing and at suppliersProvide engineering support to the production systemPossess and encourage others to have a mindset of Safety and First Pass QualityInfluence others to exhibit Boeing Values and BehaviorsThis position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in North Charleston, South Carolina.This position may require up to 20 - 25% travel, domestically or internationally.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry 5+ years of experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing environment2+ years of experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications2+ years of experience working with composites and/or composite manufacturingPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 9 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 3+ years of experience with composite part and/or material qualification5+ years of experience in a materials and processes engineering environmentExperience with aerospace composites technologyExperience with large scale composite manufacturing processesExperience working with suppliers associated with an engineering production systemProblem-solving, communication, and teamwork skillsExperience with safety and quality processesConflict of Interest:Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.Shift:This position is for 1st shift.Drug Free Workplace:Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies .
