Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Exercise Specialist role based in the Portland, Maine Metropolitan Area. The Exercise Specialist will support workplace fitness and wellness initiatives by conducting fitness assessments, developing individualized exercise programs, and leading group exercise sessions. Daily responsibilities include coaching participants on proper exercise technique and safety, monitoring progress, and adapting exercise prescriptions to meet diverse fitness levels and health needs. The role also involves collaborating with other well-being staff, maintaining a clean and welcoming fitness environment, and engaging participants to increase program utilization and adherence. The Exercise Specialist will document sessions as required, follow organizational policies and guidelines, and contribute to events or campaigns that promote employee health and well-being. Qualifications Applied exercise science skills, including Exercise Physiology and Exercise Prescription, with the ability to design safe and effective programs. Experience with Strength Training, including coaching proper technique and progressing programs for different fitness levels. Skills in Group Exercise instruction, with the ability to lead inclusive and engaging classes for varied populations. Relevant certification in exercise science, personal training, or group fitness (e.g., ACSM, NASM, ACE, NSCA), or eligibility to obtain certification. Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field preferred, or equivalent education and experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and support participants from diverse backgrounds. Commitment to maintaining a safe environment, following clinical and organizational guidelines, and upholding confidentiality. Ability to work on-site in the Portland, Maine Metropolitan Area, including occasional flexible hours based on client and program needs.
