Overview

The Executive Director for the Workers' Compensation Trust and Unemployment Pool at the Puget Sound Educational Service District (PSESD) is a strategic leadership role focused on enhancing the public education system in Washington. This position oversees operations that provide workers' compensation insurance to school district employees, and aims to foster safe work environments and effective claims management.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain equitable partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Compile and analyze data for compliance and program monitoring.
  • Facilitate meetings to identify issues and make recommendations.
  • Develop and execute strategic and operational business plans.
  • Maintain an annual administrative budget to ensure program solvency.
  • Oversee program activities to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Perform personnel functions to cultivate staff engagement and productivity.
  • Represent risk management programs before governing entities.
  • Secure reinsurance and surety bonds for financial integrity.
  • Supervise personnel to advance team development.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, public administration, or related field
  • Experience in insurance, risk management, or related operational functions
  • Leadership and supervisory experience
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with partners and regulatory agencies
  • Strong knowledge of group self-insurance, workers' compensation, and unemployment compensation laws
  • Skill in analyzing complex data and financial reports
  • Excellent communication and adaptive leadership skills
  • Experience working in educational institutions or public agencies
  • In-depth knowledge of Washington State laws governing self-insured programs
  • Professional certification in risk management
