Overview

The Executive Director of Nursing (EDON) at Wellstar Health Systems provides leadership and management for multiple cost centers in emergency services, ensuring the delivery of safe, quality care. This role involves working closely with hospital leadership, overseeing a significant budget, and creating a culture of excellence through transformational leadership and effective communication.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and management for 5 to 20 cost centers in emergency services.
  • Partner with hospital leadership and medical staff to meet organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Inspire and develop nursing staff through accountability-based practice.
  • Analyze and manage financial resources to improve operational performance.
  • Foster interdisciplinary teamwork and promote a positive workplace culture.
  • Lead clinical quality programs and support the development of staff competencies.
  • Engage in professional development and community representation.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing
  • Current Registered Nurse license in Georgia or Compact
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum 5 years in operational leadership at a manager or director level
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Leadership and change management abilities
  • Knowledge of healthcare financing and operations
  • Ability to use data and technology for decision-making
