Overview

The Executive Director of Nursing (EDON) at Wellstar Health Systems Inc. is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing nursing operations within emergency services. This position entails managing multiple cost centers, driving performance improvement, and fostering a culture of safety while ensuring high-quality patient care across the organization. The EDON collaborates with hospital leadership and medical staff to meet strategic goals and uphold professional standards in nursing practice.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and management for several nursing cost centers.
  • Partner with hospital leadership and medical staff to create a center of excellence.
  • Develop and implement clinical quality programs and training for nursing staff.
  • Manage financial resources and assist in budget oversight.
  • Foster teamwork and collaboration among staff, physicians, and departments.
  • Ensure compliance with licensure, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Drive performance improvement initiatives and utilize data for decision-making.
  • Act as a mentor and support for nurse managers and staff.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia or multi-state compact.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum 10 years of nursing experience.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in a managerial or director level role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to implement change management strategies.
  • Familiarity with healthcare operations and financial management.
  • Experience in employee training and competency development.
