Overview

Sodexo is seeking an Executive Chef 4 to lead the culinary operations at the University of New Haven in West Haven, Connecticut. This leadership role involves overseeing resident dining operations, managing budgets, ensuring food safety compliance, and enhancing the dining experience for students and faculty.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead all culinary operations for resident dining, including menu development and production
  • Manage food and labor budgets, food cost controls, and inventory management
  • Standardize and implement culinary systems, procedures, and best practices
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, HACCP, and safety standards
  • Conduct audits and implement corrective action plans
  • Oversee Food Management System implementation and menu standardization
  • Partner with procurement teams for purchasing and financial controls
  • Develop innovative dining concepts and retail menu enhancements
  • Collaborate with campus leadership to deliver exceptional dining experiences
  • Support and improve catering and banquet services
  • Lead, coach, train, and develop culinary staff
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality and efficiency

Required skills

  • Proven experience as an Executive Chef or senior culinary leader
  • Strong financial management skills in food costs and labor budgets
  • Experience leading high-volume food service operations
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and HACCP standards
  • Experience with standardized culinary systems and quality assurance programs
  • Strong leadership skills and team development abilities
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Creativity for menu innovation and student engagement
  • Experience with catering and banquet operations preferred
  • Familiarity with Sodexo systems is a plus
