Overview

E-Z Bel Construction is seeking an Excavator Operator for their Austin, Texas location. The role involves operating excavators for trenching, grading, and material handling primarily for utility, roadway, and site preparation projects, while ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate excavators for trenching, grading, backfilling, and material loading according to project specifications.
  • Read and follow grade stakes and engineered cut sheets to achieve precise elevations.
  • Use various excavator attachments during operations.
  • Install bedding materials and manage soil moisture for compaction.
  • Follow OSHA-compliant trenching and excavation safety methods.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report issues.
  • Load haul trucks efficiently and assist with rigging and lifting.
  • Coordinate with team members on excavation sequencing.
  • Maintain safe and clean work zones.
  • Document daily production and adhere to safety protocols.

Required skills

  • 2-5 years of experience operating excavators
  • Ability to read and interpret grade stakes and survey layouts
  • Knowledge of OSHA trenching and excavation safety requirements
  • Skilled in using multiple excavator attachments
  • Strong understanding of soil classification and compaction
  • Experience with rigging and safe lifting practices
