Overview

The Excavator Operator at E-Z Bel Construction is responsible for trenching, grading, and material handling for various utility, roadway, and site preparation projects. This role requires operating excavators of different sizes while adhering to safety protocols and project specifications.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate excavators for trenching, grading, backfilling, and material loading
  • Follow grade stakes and project specifications to achieve precise elevations
  • Use excavator attachments such as buckets, compaction wheels, and hydraulic hammers
  • Install bedding materials and manage soil moisture for compaction
  • Follow OSHA-compliant trenching and excavation safety requirements
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report any issues
  • Load haul trucks efficiently and within capacity limits
  • Assist with rigging and lifting large structures
  • Coordinate excavation sequencing and haul routes with team members
  • Maintain safe and clean work zones and document daily production

Required skills

  • 2-5 years of experience operating excavators
  • Ability to read and interpret grade stakes and survey layouts
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements
  • Skilled in using excavator attachments
  • Understanding of soil classification and compaction techniques
  • Experience with rigging and safe lifting practices
