EV Battery Modeling & Simulation Engineer Full-Time Windsor, ON (Hybrid) Automotive EV Battery Development Compensation: $42.00 - $48.00 per hour (depending on experience) Location: Windsor, ON (Hybrid) Travel: Occasional travel to USA for team meetings and project activities as required. We are seeking an EV Battery Modeling & Simulation Engineer to support the development of next-generation lithium-ion battery systems used in cutting-edge electrified vehicle platforms. In this role, you will develop and validate battery models, perform simulation studies, analyze testing data, and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to improve battery performance, safety, and reliability. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of battery science, thermal management, and vehicle electrification. What You'll Do Develop and validate electrical, thermal, and degradation models for lithium-ion battery cells, modules, and battery packs. Build and maintain battery simulations using tools such as GT-SUITE, GT-Power, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent platforms. Conduct battery performance studies under various operating conditions, including: Fast charging Thermal events Environmental variability Aging and degradation Analyze laboratory and test data to extract model parameters and validate simulation accuracy. Support pack development through scenario analysis, optimization studies, and sensitivity assessments. Collaborate with battery design, controls, testing, and systems engineering teams. Evaluate high-voltage battery system performance and functionality. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and engineering recommendations. Contribute to the advancement of battery modeling methodologies and simulation capabilities. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Master's Degree in: Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Chemical Engineering Aerospace Engineering Applied Physics or related discipline 2+ years of engineering simulation experience. Experience with battery modeling or system simulation tools such as: GT-SUITE GT-Power MATLAB/Simulink Amesim Equivalent simulation platforms Strong understanding of: Lithium-ion battery fundamentals Battery performance behavior Thermal characteristics Battery aging and degradation mechanisms Knowledge of high-voltage battery systems, busbars, and Battery Disconnect Units (BDU). Experience interpreting engineering data and validating simulation models. Familiarity with optimization techniques, parameter estimation, or Design of Experiments (DOE). Strong communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications PhD focused on Battery Systems, Electrochemistry, Thermal Management, or Energy Storage. Experience with battery testing and performance validation. Experience developing 0D, 1D, and/or 3D battery models. Knowledge of: State of Charge (SOC) State of Health (SOH) State of Power (SOP) Kalman Filters Battery Estimation Algorithms Programming experience with: MATLAB Simulink Python Visual C++ Experience in automotive electrification, EV battery development, or energy storage systems.
