Overview

New River Electrical Corporation is looking for a qualified Estimator for an on-site position in Cloverdale, Virginia. The role involves reviewing contract documents and developing comprehensive cost estimates for various electrical construction projects, while collaborating closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Review project plans and specifications to confirm complete scope
  • Participate in customer pre-bid meetings
  • Identify risk issues and their order of magnitude
  • Solicit subcontractor and/or supplier information and pricing
  • Meet estimating deadlines working independently
  • Perform material and labor takeoffs for electrical construction projects
  • Manage bid information flow between various stakeholders
  • Create and transmit scope letters and quotations
  • Follow up with customers on proposals
  • Support project managers during the pre-construction phase
  • Assist senior estimators on large project estimates
  • Create project schedules to define construction workflow

Required skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of electrical and/or civil estimating experience
  • Familiarity with materials and equipment take-off process
  • Ability to perform conceptual estimates based on specifications
  • Strong mathematical and communication skills
  • General understanding of MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Ability to compose proposals, technical documents, and formal letters
  • Presentation skills to diverse groups
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Understanding of Fixed Price, Time & Materials, Cost Plus and Unit contract pricing
  • Basic understanding of electrical trade and general construction
  • Ability to understand construction drawings and contract documents
