Overview

Estimator SCOPE OF JOB: The Estimator is responsible for searching for profitable jobs for the Company and evaluating the feasibility of undertaking the project. He/she provides bids to construction contractors and owners that are competitive yet profitable for the Company. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Checks the website for available bid opportunities. Downloads blueprints from the website and does material take-offs. Sends out and follows-up on bids to potential customers. Up-sells products, services, and equipment to existing and potential customers. Maintains customer contacts. Submits approved alternate products to contractors/owners for project acceptance. Seeks out new customers. Write-up equipment lists and submits to operations. Schedules jobs with Dispatch; follows-up as needed. Acts as primary customer contact for contractors/owners through the project. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Knowledge of Traffic Control products and services. Knowledge and understanding of blueprints. Basic computer skills. Efficient and effective organizational skills. Ability to effectively communicate with customers via telephone, email, and in-person. Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and Adobe preferred. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalent education. Knowledge of Traffic Control Industry preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sedentary - primarily sits at desk for majority of the day. Occasionally exerts up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects. Must be able to latch or unlatch trailers and haul rolling stock, demos or sales/rentals to customer sites. Must be able to move about inside office space to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine or printer. Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, using measurement devices, and visual inspection of work to ensure accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned.
