Overview

The Estimator at Gilson Graphics plays a crucial role in the Estimating department by bridging production requirements with profitability to assist the sales team in securing projects. This position involves optimizing the company’s printing capabilities while ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

  • Calculate accurate job plan cost estimates for labor and materials
  • Review customer and sales specifications and requirements
  • Maintain profitability while ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Advise on options for materials or production methods
  • Communicate requirements to vendors and manage schedules
  • Develop project planning estimates utilizing equipment effectively
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing, and management
  • Refer to previous job cost reports for improvements
  • Interpret job tickets, layouts, and press impositions
  • Work cooperatively in a fast-paced team environment

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Print Management or two years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of two years in Print Management
  • Attention to detail and quality control
  • Knowledge of commercial printing equipment and capabilities
  • Experience with prepress offset and digital printing
  • Familiarity with large format printing and bindery processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills with diverse individuals
  • Self-motivated and reliable with strong organizational skills
