Job Description

Overview

As an Estimator at Summa, you will evaluate costs of materials and labor, prepare various levels of cost estimates for projects, and work closely with engineers and contractors to ensure accurate financial assessments. This role requires a solid understanding of project management and the ability to read technical drawings and specifications.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate cost of materials and labor
  • Prepare general and second tier cost estimates
  • Estimate general expenses for projects
  • Conduct business cases with cost estimates for proposed projects
  • Read and interpret plans, maps, drawings, and specifications
  • Use CADD and other software systems for cost estimation
  • Evaluate costs prior to contract award
  • Follow quantity takeoff procedures
  • Implement monitoring and reporting processes
  • Prepare and maintain directories of suppliers and specialty trade contractors
  • Communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors regarding cost estimates
