Overview

The Estimator at Gilson Graphics plays a critical role in supporting the sales team by ensuring accurate job costing for various print projects. This position involves collaborating with multiple departments to optimize both customer satisfaction and company profitability through effective job planning and communication.

Key responsibilities

  • Calculate accurate job plan cost estimates for labor and materials
  • Review and understand customer and sales specifications
  • Maintain profitability while ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Advise on material and production method options
  • Communicate requirements to vendors and manage scheduling
  • Develop project planning estimates utilizing equipment and capabilities
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and management teams
  • Refer to previous job cost reports for future improvements
  • Interpret job tickets, layouts, and press impositions
  • Work cooperatively within a team under tight deadlines

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Print Management or two years of experience preferred
  • Minimum of two years in Print Management
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control
  • Commercial printing equipment knowledge
  • Prepress offset and digital printing knowledge
  • Large format printing and bindery processes knowledge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
