Job Description

Overview

ElectriCom Inc is seeking an Equipment Operator to support aerial and underground fiber-construction projects in Florence, Texas. The role involves operating heavy equipment, assisting field crews, and ensuring safety and efficiency at job sites in various weather conditions.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, trenchers, skid steers, and rock saws
  • Perform excavation, trenching, backfilling, and site preparation
  • Assist crews with groundwork and installation tasks
  • Complete daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain awareness of underground and overhead utilities
  • Load, unload, and secure equipment and materials
  • Travel to job sites, including overnight out-of-town assignments
  • Participate in required training and perform traffic control as needed

Required skills

  • Experience operating heavy construction equipment
  • Telecom/utility experience preferred
  • Ability to read and follow construction plans and job specifications
  • Strong understanding of job-site safety and utility-location awareness
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Commitment to safe work practices
  • Ability to work outdoors and travel as needed
